Transparent Care, Tailored to You: Insurance & Payment Policy

Insurance & Payment Policy

We proudly offer health insurance options to make it easier for women and families to find support in female health, gut health, and family nutrition.

We are excited to welcome new clients into our practice and are now offering initial functional medicine and holistic wellness assessments as cash-pay services, with the potential for insurance billing once an ongoing relationship is established.

As an integrative and functional nutrition practice, much of the work we do, including in-depth assessments, customized protocols, holistic wellness coaching, supplement planning, meal design, personal training and exercise guidance, and interpretation of functional and traditional lab testing, is not covered by insurance. These services go far beyond conventional nutrition care and are key to addressing root causes and helping you feel your best.

We put an immense amount of time, thought, and clinical insight into every client’s plan. True healing and progress require diligence and partnership—on both sides. While we understand the value of insurance, we also know its limitations. To offer the level of care our clients deserve, we are unable to work with individuals who are not willing to take on some financial responsibility for their care.

Here’s what to expect:

Integrative Foundational Assessment services will be billed directly to the client.

Ongoing nutrition counseling and maintenance follow-up sessions may be eligible for insurance reimbursement depending on your coverage.

If we are out of network with your insurance provider, we’re happy to provide a superbill to help you request reimbursement.

We’re here to support you with clarity and compassion every step of the way, and we’re committed to making your investment in your health worthwhile.

Health Insurance for Nutrition Services

Have you checked to see if nutrition services are covered by your health insurance?

Many insurance companies cover nutrition counseling sessions performed by a registered dietitian. Coverage may vary depending on your plan. Whole Lifecycle Nutrition is an in-network provider for the following insurance companies: Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, Mass General Brigham, Wellpoint, and United Healthcare.

How to find out if you are covered?

You can start by calling the customer service number on your card.

When calling your insurance company, make sure to ask:

Do I need a referral or order from my primary care physician?

Is my diagnosis covered?

How many visits are covered?

Will I have a copay?

Have I met my deductible?

Other notes on insurance coverage:

Sometimes the insurance company will ask you to provide them with CPT or ICD-10 diagnosis codes. The CPT codes are 97802 and 97803. The ICD-10 diagnosis codes are unique to your health condition. If requested, provide the ICD-10 codes of Z71.3 and Z72.4 which are preventative diagnoses. You may also be covered under a different ICD-10 diagnosis. Health conditions that commonly have nutritional services covered by health insurance include overweight, obesity, pre-diabetes, diabetes, high cholesterol, and hypertension.

Note that coverage for pediatric and adult patients may be different, even if you are on the same family plan. Make sure to ask the insurance company to explain nutrition services benefits for each individual in your family seeking care.

Some insurance companies will reimburse you directly for fees paid to out-of-network providers. If this is the case, we can provide you with the necessary paperwork to submit to your insurance company.

Whole Lifecycle Nutrition also accepts health savings accounts (HSA), flex spending accounts (FSA), cash, and credit. All payments are made through our secure patient portal.
